Where has the time gone

So, I've missed posting about Zoey's birthday, Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's Day, and everything in between.

Let's suffice it to say the big events went well, and we are very blessed.  Zoey loved, loved, loved the whole birthday scene.  We hosted Christmas day at our house (including a special visitor from Ethiopia).  The New Year has been busy as ever, and Valentine's have been delivered and received.  Talk about the shortened version.

The kids' 1st Christmas was sooooo exciting.  It's 2 months after the fact, and we still have to sing Christmas carols some days!  All of my siblings and my mom were at our house for Christmas day, and we enjoyed the craziness that is our family!

Seems as thought the past month has been some sort of test from God about our ability to handle twists, turns, juggling, and hurdles.  I'm not sure we've set any world records along the way, but we have lived to tell about it, and we continue to be thankful for all that is given instead of lamenting all that has gone wrong.  I don't know if we are faithful or crazy, but we keep on keepin' on!

On January 21st, my mom suffered a severe stroke.  A very rough 48 hours followed, and the past month has been a combination of getting her settled into a nursing home, and dealing with the grief associated with the life-changing result.  We continue to pray for God's healing hand and His peace to see her through and accept a "new normal."  Medically, she is doing fairly well, but her progress in therapy is slow, and the reality she faces is difficult for her and those who love her to accept.  Finding a balance between hoping/praying for miracles, while coping with the possible long term effects are draining for all.  Family and friends have been amazingly supportive, and the kids are dealing with our weekend treks to visit Grandma (3 hours on the road, plus the visit).  Needless to say, the nursing home is no place for a 68 year old with all her mental capacity; however, she's receiving AMAZING care.  I cannot say enough about the staff at Mason Point. . . .WOW!

The 3 days before my mom's stroke were filled with Ben's "viral infection."  Poor little guy ran a fever for several days, and culminated the event with an ear infection.  Needless to say, he bounced back and is better than ever!  The past 3 weeks or so he has really started talking A LOT! He loves to sing, and his favorite topic of conversation continues to be the puma that apparently stalks our family everywhere we go!  Some kids have imaginary friends, but my kid has an imaginary puma.  Go figure.

Zoey still LOVES, LOVES, LOVES school.  It's such a blessing to have a child eager to get up each morning and get going.  We NEVER struggle to face a school day.  She is learning to play independently just a bit more, but still prefers to have her "people" playing/watching/interacting. . . .she's a happy, beautiful child!

Both kids are out-growing everything. . .clothes, shoes, etc.  I feel it's safe to say there are thriving (in spite of their clueless, distracted, and inexperienced mom).

Stay tuned. . . .I may actually get some new pics and info. up soon.
